What You Need To Know:
Micro-pigmentation is a serious procedure, where the skins' surface is penetrated, pigments are implanted and some bleeding may occur. It is imperative that the lowest price NOT be THE deciding factor for proceeding. Once badly applied, you need several treatments to remove the unwanted pigment, often requiring the use of expensive, specialized lasers. And where the eyes are concerned, lasers are not even an option.
Not all methods of performing permanent makeup are the same, and the training, experience & skills of the therapists vary greatly, so be sure to ask the following:
Any testimonials and before & after pictures
How long has the therapist been doing this work?
Where did they take their initial training/was it a registered institution, that provided Certification - using live models? Or did they take a video course & practice on pigs ears, banana peels or fake rubber skin?
How long was the training? (a few hours, a weekend course, a week long course
Have they continued to take any further advanced training?
What about sanitation & sterilization methods - Is everything a one time use? You can't be too safe these days!
What type of pigments are being used? Are they FDA approved & do they custom blend them or use one colour straight out of a bottle?
What is the pain factor? Do they use any anesthetics? If so what type are they & how are they being applied? Injected anesthetics can only legally be applied in a dentist or doctors office & oral gel anesthetics are not appropriate for the eye area.
Ask if they had any art or make-up artistry training prior to deciding to offer permanent cosmetics; their ability to understand shape, proportion, symmetry & colour theory as well as how colours develop & change under the various skin tones are extremely vital to a successful procedure - when you see ladies with blue eyebrows it is usually because black & white pigments were mixed together to try to obtain charcoal but due to the hemoglobin in our blood it turns the colours blue(those with proper training know this).
What type & variety of equipment do they use. Beware of those using only cheap, disposable, plastic, and/or battery operated cordless pens, as this equipment is not able to deliver pigment consistently to the dermal layer of the skin, and therefore the pigment fades within 1-2 years. Many of these proceedures are now being referred to as ' Semi-Permanent Make-up'. Why would you want to spend the same amount of money only to have the pigment vanish in a short period of time?
Testimonials From The Heart
"I'm so thrilled with my permanent eyebrows & eyeliner. It's great not to have to fuss with makeup in the morning." Leah H.
"I couldn't be more pleased with the results of my permanent eyebrows. Shaped to perfection, coloured to match my skin tone and hair colour, they are completely natural looking. No need to re-apply brow pencil after showering or swimming--my brows are always there. My one regret is that I didn't have this done sooner. They are absolutely fabulous." Sheryl W.
